Introducing the Two Phones...

Nokia is one of the biggest and oldest brands on the mobile market. The company were one of the original innovators of mobile technology, and they're bets known these days for their Lumia line of Windows phones. Windows mobile aren't usually the best bargains on the market, and they do tend to be pricey, but Nokia have released some affordable smart phones.

Today we're looking at the Nokia Lumia 620 and the Nokia Lumia 625, which are very similar in name, and yet quite different in features and performance. They do share the same great build quality that you'd expect from a Nokia phone, though the 625 model is more expensive than the 620. Which one is a better buy though?
What You'll be Paying...

Firstly, you need to know if you're looking for pay as you go or pay monthly mobiles. Pay as you go customers generally need to buy their phones SIM free, in which case the Nokia Lumia 625 is going to cost you around two hundred and thirty pounds whilst the Nokia Lumia 620 will cost you about one hundred and ninety pounds.

If you want pay monthly phones then you're going to need to find the best operator to sign a contract with to get your phone. The best deals on both of these models at the moment are with Vodafone. You can get either model for no money down, the Lumia 625 on a 17 a month contract and the Lumia 620 on a 13 a month calling plan.
The Similarities...

Both of these phones run the latest Window 8 operating system version, they also both have a 5 MP camera, which is the standard resolution for this price range. They both have the same 8 GB internal memory capacity for storing music, photos and other data. Additionally, they do look incredibly similar.
The Nokia Lumia 625...

The Nokia Lumia 625 is the more expensive phone, so you'd expect it to have some advantages over the Nokia Lumia 620, and it doesn't disappoint. The 625 does have a better processor. It runs a 1200 MHz model over the 1000 MHz processor on the 620, which makes the 625 faster, more powerful and more responsive too.

The 625 also has the larger screen, with a 4.7 inch display versus the 3.8 inch screen on the 620. This gives you a much better viewing experience for videos, web pages and even documents, but additionally, it does give you more space to type on the on screen keyboard.

The Lumia 625 is a 4G device, whilst the 620 isn't. A 4G phone gets faster mobile internet speeds, though you will need a special 4G data plan from your operator in order to take advantage of this, otherwise your phone will simply connect over the slower 3G network by default.

Finally, the 625 gets a much better battery. It gets around seventy per cent more standby time per battery charge cycle than the 620, averaging twenty three days versus just fourteen days. It also gets around fifty per cent more talk time per charge, averaging fifteen hours versus nine and a half hours. This means that you'll be charging your phone less often.
The Nokia Lumia 620...

The 620 does have better screen quality though. It has a TFT LCD display, rather than the older LCD style on the 625, so you get better colour reproduction. It also has twenty per cent more PPI (pixels per inch) so the picture is clearer and sharper than that of the 625.
The 620 is the smaller device. It's around ten per cent smaller than the 620, and it's lighter, weighing just 127 grams versus the 159 gram 625. This means that the 620 is more portable and easier to carry around with you all day.
Which is Better?

We'll go for the Lumia 625 over the 620, for just a little more cash you get a lot more phone, and the combination of faster processor and bigger screen really make the 625 worth buying.
