Before the era of technology, the main losses for business were financial fraud of the internal employees and external crooks, bribery, corruption and betrayal to the organization of the employees. But, as the technology progressed, the shape and size of frauds changed and have grown bigger. From a banker, to retailer, contractor, distributor, manager and restaurant owner, computer has become the basic tool of working in every kind of business. Where computer provides the feasibility of working easier and quicker, it has opened several new doors for the thugs and criminals to haunt you.
Many of the businesses have suffered some kind of data breach and are unaware of that. The companies do not really pay the require attention to the risks that that their data faces and the loss they can suffer. There are many reasons why companies suffer data breach, some of these are:
Lack of awareness in employees
One of the basic reasons why companies face data breaches is that the employees are usually not educated well enough regarding the threats proposed to their data. Companies do not create awareness in their employees; they do not teach the protocols of data security, neither have they told them the hazards of information breach. Employees play a big role in data security and data breach; aware employees are more likely to protect data better than the unaware ones.
Restrict the personal use on companys computer
IT department should play its part in the security of data of the company. IT department should have a proper check on what is happening on companies computers. Who is accessing which computer and which employees are using personal devices. The BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) principle is also proving to be hazardous for data security as employees leak data intentionally or unintentionally through it.
Wi-Fi security
Unsecure Wi-Fi connections are very much prone data breach. Unsecured Wi-Fi connections give passage to the cyber criminals to access your personal data and exploit it. Bank accounts, personal data and other confidential data should not be accessed through unsecured hotspot.
Security software
The traditional ways of making data secure have become quite easy to break through, therefore, using security software that can act as Folder Locker can be quite handy. Keeping software is not a remedy, but, it should be updated regularly to neutralize the criminal attacks.
The least number of storage places should be used
If your data is diversely saved at a number of places, it can be difficult to make it secure. Places where data is saved should be minimum as it will provide you the ease of securing it.
Restrict excessive data saving on laptops
Now, employees save large amount of data on their laptops to carry data home and work from there. According to a research more than 40 percent of the laptops that get lost or stolen contain confidential information in them. The worst part is that not more than 15 or 16 percent of the lost laptops have any security measures to avoid data breach.
Loss of confidential records has become one of the most expansive losses to suffer. However, taking some precautions can avoid such big losses, but, unfortunately, companies do not seem to be interested in making their data secure.

Before you contact your Internet service provider regarding a problem with your broadband connection, you should try a few troubleshooting steps yourself. There are many things which can go wrong with your connection but, fortunately, many of them can easily be fixed at your end. If you have tried everything in the following guide yet are still unable to connect to the Internet, the problem likely lies beyond your control in which case you may want to call your Internet service provider to find out if there is a temporary service outage in your area.
Wireless Signal Problems
Wireless Internet is never going to be quite as reliable as a cabled connection. For a reliable connection, you will typically want a consistent four or five bars of signal. However, there are some things that you can do in order to improve signal strength. To begin with, ensure that there is nothing in the area which may interfere with the connection quality such as telephones and any other wireless devices.
In spite of the official specifications stating extremely high wireless ranges of the latest wireless routers and network adapters, the reality is somewhat different. Thicker walls and floors, for example, greatly decrease the effective range. Minimize the distance between your wireless router and computer and any obstructions between them.
If the above is not practical, you can either install a wireless repeater or use HomePlug. HomePlug allows you to have a wired Internet connection anywhere in your home since it uses the power lines in your house to send and receive data. The only requirement is that both power points you use are on the same mains power supply.
Low Download Speed
There are many reasons for low download speeds but, before you start assuming that there is a problem with your connection, be sure to know how fast your connection should be in the first place. Be aware that advertised broadband speeds are always the theoretical maximum and, in reality, these are rarely attainable. Other factors such as how far you live from the telephone exchange (if you are using ADSL) are also important. You can find out from your service provider how fast you can reasonably expect your connection to be.
If the problem has not occurred before, ensure that there is no electrical interference. Other electrical objects can cause interference even with cabled connections. Ensure that the router is optimally placed on a desk or table rather than on the floor. Keep it several feet away from any other wiring or electrical equipment for optimal performance. If using ADSL, be sure that you have Microfilters connected between every telephony device and the socket in your home. This includes telephones, answer machines, fax machines, alarm systems and the router itself. You can buy Microfilters at almost any electrical shop.
Low download speeds are often caused by a problem with your actual computer. Ensure that there is nothing downloading in the background and using up your bandwidth. Online software distribution services such as Steam, for example, are particularly guilty of this. Avoid running start-up programs which use the Internet unless you actually need to have them turned on all the time. You can choose which programs start automatically when you log into windows by opening the msconfig utility in Windows 7 and earlier or the Advanced Task Manager in Windows 8.
Outdated Hardware
The Internet is constantly getting faster all over the country. However, in order to be able to take advantage of new technologies, you will often need to have newer hardware. This is particularly the case with wireless Internet. The current wireless specification is Wireless-N. This allows for download speeds of over 100Mbps subject to your broadband service. Wireless-G is still widely in use, but it generally only supports lower download speeds so, if you are connecting to the latest and fastest fibre-optic cable broadband, for example, you will likely not be enjoying it to its fullest potential. Be aware that both your router and the wireless adapter in your laptop or desktop computer both need to meet the same specification to be able to take advantage of the latest technology.

Looking for a new mobile phone and don't know where to start the process? Then you've come to the right place. Getting the right phone for you is important since this is a gadget that you're going to be using every day, which means that it's essential that you make a wise decision when choosing. There are, however, a lot of things that you need to think about when you're choosing which phone is right for you.
Money is always a concern. For a top of the line phone you're going to be paying a minimum of five hundred pounds, and that's a significant investment. These days many of us are trying to save some cash, but even though you're going to be spending a lot of money, if you're getting a great phone for that money then you won't need to buy another for a couple of years, so it should be worth it.
You also need to consider performance. Most of us are reliant on our mobiles, maybe because of work, or maybe because we no longer have that expensive and unnecessary home land line phone. This means that you need a great phone that has great performance, not something that's going to let you down by crashing or freezing.
The best thing that you can do to ensure that you're getting a great mobile is to compare phones to see which offers you the best features for your cash. This involves going through mobile descriptions and spec sheets. Unfortunately, descriptions and spec sheets can be swimming in technical data and jargon, making them tough to read, so we're here to help you out.
We've looked at some of the best, top of the line phones on the market and then put models in head to head comparisons, letting you see which is the better device. If you want the best phone that money can buy, then read on to find out more...
Introducing the Two Phones...
Blackberry is one of the most recognisable brands on the mobile market, though they have just announced that they're stopping making consumer models. They do have one last flagship phone before they go though, the Blackberry Z30 is a touch screen model, and it's the highest featured and most powerful Blackberry ever released. It's got some great specs, but it's also got some stiff competition...
Apple released two new phones this year, and we're looking at the iPhone 5S, the flagship phone. It's bigger and better than any other iPhone before it, and it has the classic Apple design and intuitive interface that we all love. The 5S is expensive though, so is it really worth paying more money for?
What You'll be Paying...
If you want to buy your phone SIM free so that it's not attached to an operator then the Blackberry Z30 is going to cost you around five hundred pounds. The iPhone 5S will cost you five hundred and fifty for the smallest, 16 GB model, up to seven hundred and ten pounds for the largest, 64 GB, model.
If you prefer, you can sign an incentive contract with a mobile operator so that you don't need to pay full retail price up front. The best deal on both of these models is with O2. You'll get either device for no money down at all, the Blackberry on a 32 a month calling plan contract, and the iPhone on a 42 a month contract.
The Similarities...Both of these are touch screen devices, and they're also both 4G phones. The benefit of 4G phones is that you can get faster mobile internet speeds, but you will need a specific 4G data plan from your mobile operator to take advantage of this, otherwise you'll connect over 3G by default. Both models also have the same 8 MP camera on board, which is slightly low for this price range.
The Blackberry Z30...
Surprisingly, you're actually going to get several advantages by choosing the Blackberry Z30 over the iPhone 5S. The Blackberry does have a better processor. It runs a 1700 MHz processor rather than the 1300 MHz model on the iPhone, so the Z30 is much more powerful, faster and more responsive too.
The Blackberry gets the larger screen, with a full five inch display as opposed to the four inch screen on the iPhone. This means you get a better viewing experience and that typing on the touch screen is easier. The Blackberry's display is a Super AMOLED screen rather than the older LCD type on the iPhone, so you get better colour reproduction, and it also has thirty per cent higher screen resolution, so the picture quality is brighter and clearer.
Finally, you do get a better battery on the Blackberry. The Z30 gets around fifty per cent more standby time per battery charge cycle than the iPhone, as well as around eighty per cent more active talk time, averaging eighteen hours of use versus just ten hours for the iPhone 5S. This means that you'll need to charge your phone less often.
The iPhone 5S...
What does the iPhone 5S offer? It is the more portable device. The iPhone is around forty per cent smaller than the Blackberry (though it does have the smaller screen), and about twenty per cent thinner. It's also lighter, weighing in at 112 grams versus the 170 gram Z30 model. This makes the iPhone that much easier to put in your pocket and carry around with you all day.
The iPhone does also have a connection to the iPhone App Store, which makes finding, downloading and installing new apps and games both easy and convenient, whilst the Blackberry has no app store connection at all. The iPhone is also capable of running more than one app at a time, so you can simultaneously chat on Skype whilst surfing the internet, for example, something that the Blackberry can't do.
Which is Better?
Our choice today is clear. The Blackberry Z30 has a faster processor and a bigger screen, plus it's cheaper than the iPhone 5S as well. All of this means that the Blackberry is a better investment than the iPhone.

Choosing a new mobile phone can be a difficult decision. There are thousands of models to choose from, and deciding which one is right for you can be tough. However, there are a couple of factors that can help to narrow down your search, and aid you in finding a phone that will fulfil your needs and in making a purchase that you won't regret.
The first of these factors is money. You can get a budget smart phone for under a hundred and fifty pounds, whilst a top of the line newly released model is going to cost you close to six hundred pounds. A good mid-market phone will be priced somewhere between these two. You are going to be investing a fair amount of money, so you want to be sure that you're spending wisely and not wasting your cash.
The other factor is performance. Many of us are dependent on our mobiles so you want a phone that's reliable and isn't going to let you down. A budget phone is probably going to be lacking in a lot of the features that the average customer needs, whilst a top end phone will have great performance, but it will also have features that you don't need and don't want to pay for. In general, a mid-range phone is going to be the best compromise for most people.
You still have many mid-range models to choose from though, which makes doing a mobile phone comparison a good idea. By comparing you can see which phone is the best value for money. However, a mobile phone comparison might not be easy, since all those mobile descriptions contain plenty of technical language, so we're here to give you a hand.
We've looked at some of the most popular mid-market phones for you, and then matched models up into head to head comparisons. This lets you easily see which phone is the best buy. If you're looking for a great new phone and want to know that you're getting the best for your money, then keep reading to find out which of today's two phones we're going to be recommending.
Introducing the Two Phones...
Motorola is one of the oldest mobile brands around, and whilst they're not quite as popular as they used to be, they do still produce some very solid mobile devices. The Motorola RAZR i is a great mid-market buy, and it's got some serious power going on, not to mention a sleek look and other great features. It is up against big competition today though...
Samsung are one of the biggest brands on the current market, best known for their flagship Galaxy S4 model. The Galaxy S4 is pretty pricey though, which is why Samsung have released the Galaxy S4 Mini. The Mini sacrifices as few features when compared to the original S4, but it is much more affordable. Which of these two phones is going to come out on top?
What You'll be Paying...
For pay as you go phones or those that want a model not locked to an operator, you're best looking for a SIM free hand set. In this case, the Motorola RAZR i is going to cost you around three hundred and twenty pounds, and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is a little more expensive at about three hundred and eighty pounds.
If you prefer, you can sign a contract with a mobile operator and not have to pay full retail price up front. The best current offer on the Motorola is with Orange, and you'll get the phone for no money down on a 20.50 a month calling plan. The best deal on the Samsung right now is with O2, and again you'll get the hand set for no cash up front, but this time it's a cheaper 17 a month calling plan contract.
The Similarities...
Both of these devices are Android touch screen phones with the same 4.3 inch screen dimensions. They both have an 8 MP camera built in, which is the standard resolution for this price range. Both also have the same 8 GB internal storage capacity for keeping your music, photos and other data on your device.
The Motorola RAZR i...
Although the Motorola RAZR i is a cheaper model, it does have some great advantages over the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. The RAZR has a better processor. It runs a 2000 MHz model, as opposed to the 1700 MHz processor on the Samsung, so the Motorola is faster, more powerful and more responsive too.
The RAZR also gets a better battery life. It gets around seventy per cent more talk time per battery charge cycle than the Samsung gets, averaging around twenty hours of active use versus just twelve hours for the Galaxy. This results in you having to charge your phone a lot less often, which is highly convenient.
Finally, though both phones have the same size screen, the Motorola is the smaller device. It's about ten per cent smaller than the Galaxy and around ten per cent thinner too, so it's just that much more portable and easier to carry around in your pocket.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini...
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is a 4G capable device, meaning that you'll get faster mobile internet speeds, though you will need a specific 4G data plan from your operator to take advantage of this. It's also a little lighter than the Motorola, weighing in at 107 grams versus the 126 gram RAZR, which may make it more comfortable to carry.
The Galaxy also has better Bluetooth support, running the 4.0 version of Bluetooth rather than the much older 2.1 version on the Motorola. This means that you'll get faster data transfer and that your phone will use less power when connecting.
Which is Better?
These two devices are actually quite similar, and they're both good buys. However, if we have to choose one, we'll go for the Motorola RAZR i with its faster processor and better battery life.

Getting a new mobile phone is never an easy decision. There are just so many different phone models on the market these days, that choosing between them is not only tough, but confusing too. You obviously want to be satisfied with your purchase, and not regret the phone that you end up buying, but that just puts even more pressure on yourself to find the right phone.
With so many of us reliant on the constant contact offered by a mobile phone, either for personal or professional reasons, you're going to need to consider phone performance in your decision. You can't afford to buy a phone that's low on features, or that simply can't do what you need it to do, so it's essential that you get a decent and good quality hand set.
Money is a large factor in the decision too, and with top end new releases costing close to six hundred pounds these days, a top of the range phone is an investment that many of us just can't afford. There are other, cheaper options to be had, but you will need to make sure that you're not giving up too many features or too much performance just to get a lower price tag.
This is why comparing mobile phones is such an important step in the buying process. You need to know which phone in your budget range offers the best features for money. Comparing mobile isn't necessarily as simple as you may think though, since mobile spec sheets and feature lists do tend to be filled with technical data and big numbers, making them tough to read for the average shopper. That's why we're here to help you out.
We've taken some of the most popular phone models offered by UK operators and matched them up in head to head comparisons so that you can easily see which phone is the best value for your cash. If you need a decent new mobile, but worry about making the right decision, then read on to find out more about the two phones we've got lined up today.
Introducing the Two Phones...
Nokia is one of the biggest and oldest brands on the mobile market. The company were one of the original innovators of mobile technology, and they're bets known these days for their Lumia line of Windows phones. Windows mobile aren't usually the best bargains on the market, and they do tend to be pricey, but Nokia have released some affordable smart phones.
Today we're looking at the Nokia Lumia 620 and the Nokia Lumia 625, which are very similar in name, and yet quite different in features and performance. They do share the same great build quality that you'd expect from a Nokia phone, though the 625 model is more expensive than the 620. Which one is a better buy though?
What You'll be Paying...
Firstly, you need to know if you're looking for pay as you go or pay monthly mobiles. Pay as you go customers generally need to buy their phones SIM free, in which case the Nokia Lumia 625 is going to cost you around two hundred and thirty pounds whilst the Nokia Lumia 620 will cost you about one hundred and ninety pounds.
If you want pay monthly phones then you're going to need to find the best operator to sign a contract with to get your phone. The best deals on both of these models at the moment are with Vodafone. You can get either model for no money down, the Lumia 625 on a 17 a month contract and the Lumia 620 on a 13 a month calling plan.
The Similarities...
Both of these phones run the latest Window 8 operating system version, they also both have a 5 MP camera, which is the standard resolution for this price range. They both have the same 8 GB internal memory capacity for storing music, photos and other data. Additionally, they do look incredibly similar.
The Nokia Lumia 625...
The Nokia Lumia 625 is the more expensive phone, so you'd expect it to have some advantages over the Nokia Lumia 620, and it doesn't disappoint. The 625 does have a better processor. It runs a 1200 MHz model over the 1000 MHz processor on the 620, which makes the 625 faster, more powerful and more responsive too.
The 625 also has the larger screen, with a 4.7 inch display versus the 3.8 inch screen on the 620. This gives you a much better viewing experience for videos, web pages and even documents, but additionally, it does give you more space to type on the on screen keyboard.
The Lumia 625 is a 4G device, whilst the 620 isn't. A 4G phone gets faster mobile internet speeds, though you will need a special 4G data plan from your operator in order to take advantage of this, otherwise your phone will simply connect over the slower 3G network by default.
Finally, the 625 gets a much better battery. It gets around seventy per cent more standby time per battery charge cycle than the 620, averaging twenty three days versus just fourteen days. It also gets around fifty per cent more talk time per charge, averaging fifteen hours versus nine and a half hours. This means that you'll be charging your phone less often.
The Nokia Lumia 620...
The 620 does have better screen quality though. It has a TFT LCD display, rather than the older LCD style on the 625, so you get better colour reproduction. It also has twenty per cent more PPI (pixels per inch) so the picture is clearer and sharper than that of the 625.
The 620 is the smaller device. It's around ten per cent smaller than the 620, and it's lighter, weighing just 127 grams versus the 159 gram 625. This means that the 620 is more portable and easier to carry around with you all day.
Which is Better?
We'll go for the Lumia 625 over the 620, for just a little more cash you get a lot more phone, and the combination of faster processor and bigger screen really make the 625 worth buying.

So youve heard that employee referrals are a great cost saver to any organization? Moreover it also reduces the time taken to fill a position which in turn makes sourcing a candidate simple for any recruiter. But is this task as easy as it sounds?
An employee referral program is essentially using your employees connections which may be their relatives, friends or acquaintances for a vacancy in the organization. So far so good but here are 6 important elements which need to be considered before rolling out an employee referral program.
Before we get into the topic, let us understand that employee referral programs are an activity which can get long term benefits to any organization since it is getting an entire new culture of referrals for which employee participation is of utmost importance.
Here are my 6 key elements for the creation of a successful referral scheme:
1) Dont make it complex
A simple plan is always more effective than a complicated one even if the latter is more rewarding. Moreover if people dont understand something they will lose interest very quickly. The entire process should be well planned and kept as simple as possible so it does not tie up the valuable time and efforts of your recruiting team. It may also save a few dollars.
2) A right Direction
Employees are the driving force for the success of any referral program, so think carefully about how you will do this and what your incentive will be; some schemes offer vouchers, some offer movie tickets, some offer team nights out, some offer cold hard cash. Whatever it may be, it must grab peoples attention and match your culture.
3) Network is the key word
Social media is the answer for low employee participation in a referral program. Try LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.your employees will be hooked too. They should be encouraged to post new roles through their social and professional network platforms to maximize the reach for each of the vacancies posted. This habit of social recruiting should be encouraged positively and made an integral part of the companys culture, especially for all new employees.
4) Visibility
The culture of employee referrals will be integrated to the company culture but this will take time. It is very important for your referral program to gain full visibility for it to have a good start and making the employees understand the rules of engagement and potential rewards.Communication from the C-level, posting on the intranet, posters by the coffee machine, use whatever it takes to get the message out. Just do it. Then repeat.
5) Shout it loud!
If there has been a successful hire through referrals then make everyone knows about it. The employee that made the referral in the first place should be acknowledged. Reward management plays an integral part in the case of employee referral programs. This will inspire others too.
6) Do not expect the impossible!
Be patient and dont expect magic from your referral program. Have you heard of any company sourcing candidates only from employee referrals? 100 % referral hires? Even big brands globally use employee referrals as a single element of their overall multi-channeled recruitment strategy.
So your referral program will be no different. It will take time to evolve and deliver. But in case there is something which is not working, change it.

The word open source excites developers as well as development companies. Open source is a platform that doesnt require you to pay any money or licensing fees for using it. Growth can be facilitated through the organization culture. This only goes to show that any changes that need to be implemented can be done so in a successful manner if it takes the route of becoming a part of the organizations culture. This fact holds true even for the employee referral program of an organization.
Only devising exceptional employee referral solutions is not the point, its execution is more important. If the referral culture forms a part of the organization culture, it has a higher chance to succeed. As easy as the results seem, the task is not all that simple. Very cautious and foolproof steps need to be taken to make any new activity a part of the organization culture. The integration needs to be seamless; else there are chances that it may backfire. Not only would it not be able to become a part of the culture, it can also induce repulsion from the employees. Thus, while trying to integrate employee referrals in the organizations culture, the following can be useful:
Introduction to the referral program needs to be slow:
A change in culture needs to be adapted to gradually. A mere quick introduction will not do the trick. Thus, the employee referrals solutions need to very slowly and steadily form a part of the recruiting culture and not in a snap, as it would then have high rejection chances. A quick mention about the whole employee referral program every once in a while would be good enough to begin with.
Transparency in the program:
For a concept to be truly adapted and adopted, it not only needs to be clear to understand but also should not have any hidden terms and conditions. The employee referral programs should be presented well with no scope left for doubts. This means that the concept needs to be explained to the employees in a very simple and comprehensive manner. This way, complete and clear communication of the message at every stage can help the employee referral tool eventually become a part of the organizations culture.
The referral culture should begin on a lighter note:
No matter how serious the concept is, or how seriously would the organization want it to become a part of the prevailing culture; it should not be imposed on the employees. Apart from gradual and transparent mentions, the concept should also seem to be exciting. By taking a fun route to go about with things would only get the employees eager about welcoming such a novel and exciting idea in the organization culture.
Rewards can help too:
When it comes to the introduction of a new concept especially if the intention is to make it a part of the culture, the employees need to feel comfortable with it and motivated to integrate the new change. Rewards in such a case act as perfect encouragement. Even an employees attempt in any employment referral engagement activity should be recognized and rewarded so that the behavior continues and also to let the other employees too feel like participating in the same.
This way, taking the gradual route of seamless organization culture integration, an employee referral program can later go on to form a part of the organization culture.
